Haven't used those demos but it's possible they use a color mode that's not compatible with DosBox, since DosBox only supports 8bit and they probably want 15,16, or 32bit. Have you tried aspect=true in dosbox.conf or any of the other screen options?

Sigh. Just try it. Even if you use full install the game still needs to access the CD for the dropship screens, also something to do with the trainer too. I think it's the voice but I haven't verified that yet.

Longhorn won't be out until at the earliest mid-2006. That's 18 months...add about 12 more months to that and your good until mid 2007. That's 2yrs 6 months+ of DEFINITE XP support from 3rd party companies. Now I'll have to check Microsoft's end of support for XP but I'm quite sure that probably …

Is there a DOS version of this game? Underdogs refers to it as DOS only. but MobyGames says Windows 3.x.

Try making the CD drive that the TR CD is in the first drive letter above the other CD drives, should work that way instead of having to disable the other drives. Could also find a NOCD crack.

I'll have to look through my collection but what immediately came to my mind when I read your post was just as Kaminari said: Mean Streets. Such an excellent game for it's time, it's left a lasting impression. I'll dig through my stuff and see if I can find the REAL first VGA game.
