No need to buy Windows 9x if you just want Dos. Download FreeDos. It's much better and it's still supported.

No, Dosbox cannot pass-thru to any ISA/PCI/PCI-X devices in your system. If your host OS doesn't support the device then you'll need to install an OS that does.

As of the current CVS Battlecruiser 3000 v2.0 demo now loads. Previously would get a FILES error. Game doesn't work past the main menu screen but hey at least it loads now. No, SoftIce is a commercial application used for debugging. Although it can be used for illegal purposes just like any other debugger.

Well I have used DosEmu...just not for years. 😉 DosEmu is more general purpose, this site is game oriented which is why DosEmu isn't mentioned that much if at all. Nothing against DosEmu personally it's just that it's not the best solution for Dos gaming. .

Haven't really kept up with the smartphones but aren't the average speeds like: 133Mhz, 200, 324Mhz, 400, 624Mhz. With usually around 32mb-64mb of RAM? Not sure what performance would be like for Dos games on an ARM/RISC architecure on a smartphone of less than 600mhz. Probably not too good

This is odd, could have swore it worked before but going back through earlier versions of dosbox it does not. Ctrl+C and Ctrl+Break do not work at all. Just heart shaped ASCII character showing up. Ctrl+C is almost a must for proper Dos operation. 😉

Not too familiar with those games but you may want to try Microsoft/Connectix Virtual PC and/or Vmware. If those don't work then a Windows 98SE/Windows XP dual-boot would work. The problem with your games is that they are looking for functions in kernel32.dll that are no longer there since the games …

Emulation would not be an option for XBOX 1 games on XBOX 2. The rumour is flawed: 1. As per the rumour VPC would emulate whatever graphics card the host uses. So if Nvidia on the host it would emulate Nvidia on the guest, ATI on host. ATI on guest. This doesn't make any sense for emulation.....now …

Hmmm, C:\Saved Games is not a valid directory for Dos since you are using 11 character when you should just be using 8.

SQ4 works fine here. Read-only doesn't matter since when you create a new savegame it creates a new file which doesn't have read-only applied (obviously). Try checking permissions on the directory and using the latest CVS.
