is DEP enabled? A long time ago I had to disable DEP both in Windows and in the BIOS otherwise a couple of my games wouldn't load. Also try Windbg on the game and see if that helps to trace it further.

DosBox works fine on all versions of Windows from Windows 95 all the way up to 2012R2. Something on your computer is causing the issue
