DirectDraw is obsolete. It's likely your video drivers are the culprit.

We don't support abandonware here. VDMSound does not work in Windows 98SE. You should be running the game in MS-DOS, NOT in Windows 98. So drop to DOS when you want to play it.

You can't. Best you can do is to either start coding or to use a virtual CDROM drive inside of DOSBox using a 3rd party tool.

No, that's not what DOSBox is about. Use a virtualization product with VT support if that's what you want.

GLIDOS uses Windows NTVDM for emulation of everything with the games except 3DFX support which GLIDOS provides via OpenGLIDE. OpenGLIDE is a 3DFX to OPENGL wrapper VDMSOUND is obsolete, it's used to replaced NTVDM's shiity or nonexistent sound emulation. USE DOSBOX INSTEAD.

Those are all Windows executables. It's likely that that version does not have the DOS install. If it is C&C for Windows 95 then it does not. A long time ago I uses the expansion DOS files to run C&C 95 and it worked fine.

Well Vmware is faster than VPC but I stopped using VPC long ago so I don't know if VPC for Windows 7 is any faster from reading the forums there are alot of complaints that it's actually slower than VPC 2007.

The only way you are going to 3D support 9x guests currently is to use software emulation like: Swiftshader which emulates in software D3D8/D3D9. Mesa3D which emulates OpenGL. Both will be very slow so you'll need a very fast CPU to use them if you plan on playing anything very intensive. They work …
