Nah, it's not VdmSound that's eating up the cycles. It's NTVDM (Windows NT4/2000/XP/2003/Vista's DOS emulation layer). Probably too slow. NTVDM eats up processor cycles which takes away processing time needed for SB emulation. Have you tried adjusting the "idle sensitivity" option in the Vdmsound shortcut? I would have you run system monitor to monitor your processor but it's not really necessary to do so since …

Not sure if Qbix wants to include edit or not. Although it would be usefull....... Edit for me is too slow for viewing text files....and kinda unecessary if you just want to view a text file quickly.

Hmmm, sometimes when I copy files I: 1. Go to the directory where I want the files. CD \games 2. Copy the files to the directory Copy A:\*.* This would copy the files from A:\ to \games as long as your in \games.

The latest ver of VDMSound is here: VDMSound 2.1.0 PUBLIC BETA Remember that VDMSound uses IRQ7 while NTVDM uses IRQ5 Either create a VDMSound shortcut by right-clicking on doom.exe or just run DOSDRV before executing doom.

Plain old boring Doom should run just fine in Windows XP NTVDM...probably with NTVDM SB emulation too if for some strange reason you don't want to use VDMSound. Never understood people who want to play original Doom without improvements but it's your game and you can do what you want with it. 😀

Windows 1x-2x are not supported in DosBox and won't be unless someone spends the time to fix them. Considering that they are not games it's doubtful that anyone will bother. Your better off trying Qemu/Bochs/VPC and seeing if Windows 1x-2x work in those.

heh. Sorry: "mount c c:\ -freesize 600" -t specifies what you want the emulated mountpoint to be. (HD,Floppy,CD), in this case it's nothing you need to use for Daggerfall. Don't know why my hands decided to type it....

nah, "Top" is a command line program that you run from the terminal (Linux CLI) to monitor CPU usage (among other things) that your programs take up. "Dynamic" is in your dosbox.conf. Change core=normal to core=dynamic in dosbox.conf.
