So I've had one of these sitting around for a while now, dual P-Pro 200mhz with Win2k installed and wondered how it might do as a DOS games machine. what do you think?

Two Sound Blaster Awe64 Gold cards. One is CT4390 the other is CT4540. Any major differences between the two? Does one perform better than the other?

Well, it looks like oscillators are out of the question. The cheapest one I can find that looks like it fits is $45.

If the chipset supports it, then it should work on a 386. 386 and 486 are both capable of addressing 4GB of RAM. May I ask which model of motherboard you're using? Something else to keep your eye on is weather or not memory beyond 64mb is being cached. Typically boards with 256kb SRAM only cache …

What is the maximum RAM you can put on a 386 motherboard that is usable? My board has 8 30-pin slots so using 16mb SIMMs I can install 128mb but would a 386 or 386/486 hybrid chip be able to address this much memory? Would there be a BIOS limitation that would need to be addressed?

I can't find 3d winbench 98 or 99 anywhere, does anyone have working download links for them? Thanks. I don't know if 3d Winbench is an accurate gauge of how fast a graphic card will perform in real world conditions. Tom's Hardware Guide says that the results can be too easily cheated by drivers …

I opened it up and the motherboard has a 50mhz oscillator and no switches or jumpers for changing the speed so for now I'm stuck with 25mhz. The oscillator looks like it may be socketed(!) and it is tied down with a piece of zip tie. If I replace the 50mhz oscillator with an 80mhz one, will that …

Wow. How the heck did the Rendition PCI and AGP 1x cards manage to score down with the slower ISA cards? Shouldn't the bus itself have pulled those cards much higher? Or do they use some proprietary form of 3d acceleration that the benchmark doesn't test for?

No it won't skew the results to run a CPU that's relatively super fast. What it does is remove the CPU bottleneck so you can see the most the card can possibly put out. Running a slow CPU will not let the faster cards show their best and will make it appear that you can't benefit from the better …
