I can't find any utilities to use the patch For some strange reason PATCH can apply diffs to source trees.

And is there some docs on how a real machine (and its BIOS) deals with CD drives? Check out the ata/atapi specs (maybe browse bochs and similar). If you think you can or want to handle it, let me know.

On a side note, how "hard" would it be to get DOSBox to support CDs natively? dosbox already supports cdroms natively, but i guess you'd like to access them through win95. Requires a good bunch of work.

Unfortunelly many floppy image does NOT run in dosbox Booter games compatibility overview I'd say a huge load of them run just fine.

win95 in dosbox without msdos work was even in 0.61, but nobody cared about running apps (dosbox) in win95 back then.

There's limited support for this kind of app. If it works, nice, if not, bad luck. Last time i tried it worked rather well though. Don't know why you'd need flopper, just boot the floppies in dosbox.

As Qbix already said the bad thing is that microsoft didn't provide a block device for mounted drives. But of course everybody's free to use the 100% compatible (but memory sucking) dos he likes.

This would only be an issue if you use a dosbox config file from a debugger-enabled build with a regular build.

Porting the dynamic x86 core would be really tricky, all the non-x86 recompilers are using the dynrec core which is specially crafted for easy porting (the actual backends are small compared to what would have to be created for a full recompiler like a dynamic x86 porting).

Is it a dosbox problem? You didn't tell that you're (trying to) use dosbox for this. If so you can just mount the directory as a-drive with the floppy option, check out the readme.
