On the whole 45.23 thing, that tends to be the driver I use also. I have had the least amount of issues with it on the Geforce 1 through 4 line. i feel the contrary as you do. while the 4x.xx drivers do yield some performance boost, i also had most issues with them so i would avoid them at any cost …

Thanks a lot. I didn't realise nVidia had an FTP site. Do you have a link for the 8.05 version download please? the ftp site is from ages so there are only old driver versions on it, no new ones. there are even riva128 drivers in the riva directory. 8.05 drivers (in chinese, no sign up required) …

never got any k6-3+... i have 3 ss7 cpus: k6-2+ 500 acz 2.0v, stable at 550, unstable at 600. k6-2+ 550 acz, got it recently, didn't test cause the harddisk is now used on the 815e rig. k6-3 450 ahx 2.4v, didn't expect any overclock ability. and, whats the difference between acz and aczm?

there are 4 models of awe32: 2760, 3900, 3980 and 3990, from oldest to newest. if you hate that pnp shit that you should go to 2760 and 3900, but later models may probably have improved sound quality.

I was really, really disappointed with the performance of K6/3. But I must add that the performance and stability is somewhat better on Ali then on MVP3. Also, no AGP issues :-) And Win98 was working beautifully! i also consider ali5 boards far better than mvp3, but still had trouble in windows2000 …
windows98 can't access windowsupdate now, what shall i do?

i reinstalled my windows98 rig recently cause i had taken its harddisk to use on another computer for a few months before. and when i attempted to open windowsupdate, the page just kept refreshing itself(blank page) endlessly.

Generally speaking all K6-2/3 chips struggle above 600MHz because of architecture limitations (short intruction pipeline length). that's correct but not complete. the old k6-2 core(with no on-die cache) is already capable of 550mhz with 250nm process, but k6-3 can only reach 450mhz despite voltage …

just had a look at the ct1741 chip of my ct3990 awe32 and it says 4.13, oh no! i wonder if there are really any full length awe32(those with simm slots) with dsp 4.05 or 4.16, the ct3990 appears to be latest model of them.
