the ti4800(or 4600-8x) is actually rarer than the ti4600, only manufactured by a few brands, and i would say they all look ugly... their designs are more "mature" than the ti4600 days, so they needn't to be well built... and the geforce4 was not a failed product, it was fairly good for its release …

the frequency of r7500 cards varies a lot, from the "standard" 290/230 all the way to r7200's 183/183. the standard clocked r7500 would be comparable to mx440 and edge out the gf2ultra(not in opengl though), but still nowhere near the mx460.

pervious card is gf2 mx200, i doubt changing to any other nv cards would help though. my 815e never had any trouble with nv cards... no that's not true, afaik any nv cards later than nv40(including nv43) would bsod in 3dmark03 on any pentium3(and earlier) platform. 😅

rendition are decent 3d cards and i like them, however they just suck in dos. 😒 i want v2200 with 8mb of ram... so far i only know two of them in existence, from hercules and lenovo, and i have never found one yet. 🙁

when it comes to 2d cards, i only care about doom and quake scores(and quake2 for windows). 😁 rendition cards suck at doom! about 10 times slower than most others. 😳

just switched to an ati rage128vr, and no more crashing, however multiple d3d games still go out of speed control. 😠

okay, just looked at my board and the PLL is cypress w305bh. 😎 and even if a frequency is supported by PLL, it could be purposefully restrained by bios.

the radeon7500 is generally on par with mx440(depending on tests), both are a bit faster than the gf2ultra, but nowhere near the mx460. and yes, the mx460 is a 2*2 pipeline, but all geforce2s suffer from wasting memory bandwidth and overdrawing, which remain unsolved until geforce3.

mx460 is the fastest directx7 card ever, capable of scoring over 9000marks in 3dmark2001 despite missing the nature demo. i have a canopus mx460 and there are still plenty of them around. 😎

board is gigabyte 5ax. this board works fine in win98 but behaves terribly in win2000, mostly agp card issues: 1.opengl applications(mostly quake2/3) freezes at initialization. 2.agp texturing is disabled, can be unlocked through registry in some drivers though. 3.d3d applications(3dmark for example …

man i also had a celeron950ES running at 50*4 on a 815e before, took around 8:35 to run superpi. overclocking to 150*8 takes around 2:00. 😎

yeah i can get some v3-2000s for $3-5USD each with ease, but i just don't. since i am a 3dfx hater, i never looked into glide games. after all, ID games are not glide exclusive. i also hate creative soundcards, with the 33cm awe32 being the only exception due to its length.
