my friend sold me a scb-55 cheap(abour $30 usd) last year and it worked, but a few months later i accidently dropped it on the ground and broke a standing component(which appears to be a coil)! now i got to spend years to find another one 😠

i guess the largest defect of via chipsets is poor memory performance, just compare your superpi times to those on 440bx/815 mainboards(which has nothing to do with agp performance of course).

to my understanding "map" is not the ideal command to play a demo, as it treats the demo file as a map and thus may cause issues, thats what different from "demomap".

the correct way to perform a quake2 demo benchmark is: s_initsound 0 snd_restart timedemo 1 demomap demo1.dm2 did you do it a different way? and try crusher.dm2 too.

since your rig is pentium2/3 with bx/zx, geforce and radeon will surely yield some boost compared to tnt2 and rage128, unless you are running no 3d games at all. but even if thats the case, you can still benifit from better stability and video playback.
