Re: VIDEO Patch for pixel-perfect scaling (SDL1)

btw is it possible to configure glfullvsync via DBGL or do i have to edit the config file manually? Can't tell because I don't use DOSBox UI's and always edit my config manually. UI-access to a custom configuration option should not be possible unless your UI provides some generic ini-file editing …

Re: VIDEO Patch for pixel-perfect scaling (SDL1)

turning on/off vsync on the fly might help here. might this be possible via a hotkey Possible, but may not be easy for me to implement. I will consider it after we have decided on whether V-Sync itself as implemented in my patch works well enough. Holy cow, working vsync in Dosbox?! Screen tearing …

Re: VIDEO Patch for pixel-perfect scaling (SDL1)

Alpha 19 is included in DOSBox ECE r4180.4. Thank you! Btw: Is there a certain reason why you mix up the settings for the output and the mouse? ... I always alter your patch so that the output settings remain in one "block" and the mouse settings make another "block", I hope that doesn't break …

Re: VIDEO Patch for pixel-perfect scaling (SDL1)

Maybe it's an specific dosbox problem with the game menue + loading screen & vsync / double buffering? According to this thread , the effect might be due different refresh rates of the menu and in-game modes. The menu uses 70Hz and the in-game 60Hz. V-Sync might have trouble syncing with the higher …

320 x 199

Hello, all DOSBox displays Jazz Jackrabbit in-game as 320 x 199 pixels (see attachment). Is this correct behavior and does it make sense? Edit: Answered here. It is indeed the actual resolution of the in-game graphical mode.

Re: VIDEO Patch for pixel-perfect scaling (SDL1)

Yes, cpu load is lower. Maybe it's an specific dosbox problem with the game menue + loading screen & vsync / double buffering? All my other games just work fine. May be, but I am not sure. SDL people simply ignored my question about SDL 1.2 , so we are left to our own. By the way, V-Sync in SDL 1.2 …

Re: VIDEO Patch for pixel-perfect scaling (SDL1)

Thank you. Tearing is gone, but now performance in Jazz Jackrabbit's menues and loading screen is really laggy for openglnb / pp in both windowed and fullscreen. There should at least be this difference: that with openglpp CPU load must be much lower. Could you test it with different cycles …

Re: VIDEO Patch for pixel-perfect scaling (SDL1)

atched r4180 source, tested on Linux w/ fullscreen output=openglnb (same config as above). Zero tearing during gameplay, Excellent! Thanks for testing. however at the starting menu, I could cause serve video lag and audio drop out when I rapidly moved my selection up and down in the menu. As always …

Re: VIDEO Patch for pixel-perfect scaling (SDL1)

tried to record it with my smartphone (as OBS doesnt seem to capture it). Look at the threes at the beginning and you might see the tearing line going down consistently: https://www.dropbox.com/s/fb1nr0o4fvgqiti/MOV_0014.mp4?dl=0 I saw it on my own machine once I knew where to look. The patch …

Re: VIDEO Patch for pixel-perfect scaling (SDL1)

All my tests rely on Jazz Jackrabbit btw, as the tearing is very much present in there. Borderless window seems like a good workaround for the beginning. Either I am tearing-blind or there is no perceivable tearing with openglpp in fullscreen on my system with Jazz Jackrabbit . I shall be grateful …

Re: VIDEO Patch for pixel-perfect scaling (SDL1)

Yes, even with double buffering turned off (btw. i'm using DBGL to configure), there is no tearing with surfacepp output in fullscreen. I wonder why. Turning on double buffering with surfacepp output results in quite a performance drop in fullscreen. very choppy main menu etc (Jazz Jackrabbit). yet …

Re: VIDEO Patch for pixel-perfect scaling (SDL1)

In fullscreen yes, windowed its fine. Then it is not a problem of my patch, but I will see what I can do about it. Does anybody happen to know how to avoid tearing or turn on V-Sync in OpenGL via SDL 1.2? bladeSk 's fork , for example, does it by faking fullscreen via a borderless window, but I …
