Has anyone managed to open the unit to look for a battery? Similar to the leaking battery in SC-55 thread. I couldn't manage it... Actually I might post in that thread instead.

I had a wavetable Sound Canvas as a teenager and once I got a SC-55 it sounded exactly like that to my ears and the world was ok again 😀 I had two of these NEC boards die on me so now I just use external devices. Got a Yamaha one as well 😀

Mine has 1.14 and Gateway also gave me trouble. However I have never tried it in a board with ACPI disabled. I only found out about this recently...

On the Ggiabyte and Iwill boards, ACPI is hardwired to IRQ2/9. For some reason, if I use the PCI SATA controller card, Gateway will lock up with the MPU401AT unless I configure it at a different IRQ. I have an Aopen board which allows disabling ACPI. This is the AX59Pro and the only board I have …

Well I haven't been able to resolve this issue. Decided to go back go using CF cards on the mainboard's IDE controller. Now there is no IRQ conflict with the MPU401AT when playing Gateway. Funny how one game not working can bug you to the point of changing your system again :) Got a 32GB CF card …

Yea a promise IDE controller should do the job. I do have a 386, but was able to create a 512MB partition on a 2GB CF card. I don't remember the steps however I did nothing "special".

Realtek? You like have the SPEAKER FILL enabled. This upmixes Stereo to all speakers. The setting is in the Realtek panel or accessible through the Audio device settings.

With PS+ if you don't have a subscription you can't play the games. It's up to Sony to decide what they will be doing in 5 years, however PS+ also covers the VITA and PS4.
