Re: D-Fend Reloaded (DOSBox frontend)

I think I have an explanation then. It looks like there is an alternative way of registering filetypes which is used by Notepad2. Maybe this is new to Windows7, I don't know. Traditionally HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT is the merged display of HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Classes and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/ …

Re: Your first high performance pc.

in Milliways
My first high-end experience was a Pentium 90 with 16 megs, the latest Diamond (s3) graphics card and a really great, obscenely costly midi capable soundcard called Tropez from Turtle Beach. All I say is Wing Commander III. That machine was a beast at the time, truly the latest and greatest. I could …

Re: D-Fend Reloaded (DOSBox frontend)

That sounds all really good. By accident I recently found one more possible bug, which is not related to any new function: despite having set Notepad2 to be my standard editor for text files in Windows, text files are always opened in Windows Notepad when opened from the data viewer, although "Use …

Re: D-Fend Reloaded (DOSBox frontend)

Ah, well. That perfectly explains the setup checkbox behavior. But the other things? Hard to tell without trying, but I'm unsure. If you find the time, maybe you could try the following: 1. Is the non-modal viewer working for you with "Allow only one running instance" enabled. For me it's definitely …

Re: D-Fend Reloaded (DOSBox frontend)

Just a little follow uo on the "Allow only one running instance" thing. After some more testing, I would say it's the "Allow only one running instance" checkbox that controls the image viewer mode. Although I'm not really sure. Maybe something goes wrong while reading in the settings? What is sure, …

Re: D-Fend Reloaded (DOSBox frontend)

Another (supposedly small) glitch regarding the image viewer. Sorry! ;) Even with "Allow only one running instance" set to off, the image viewer is non-modal only when called from the screenshots tab. If I open an image from a games data folder (that's where I collect maps and such) it's still …

Re: D-Fend Reloaded (DOSBox frontend)

I just found the problem regarding the image viewer. the non-modal viewer collides with the "Allow only one running instance" setting. It's either "Allow only one running instance" or the non-modal image viewer, both together aren't working. Which makes somewhat sense, assuming you implemented the …

Re: D-Fend Reloaded (DOSBox frontend)

1. Non modal image previewer: Program settings -> External programs -> Media viewers -> "Show internal image viewer as modal window"=off Doesn't work for me. Neither with an updated version from D-Fend 1.1 nor with a fresh version (I tried the full zip version without installer to test this). In …

Re: D-Fend Reloaded (DOSBox frontend)

Ahh, and btw.: What happened to my archiving for Windows games wish? Was that axed? That one especially would be really, really nice to have. In the meantime I managed to get about 50 Windows games, (all I tried so far) running without the need to be reinstalled when moved to another machine. So …

Re: D-Fend Reloaded (DOSBox frontend)

Some more feedback: 1. multiple internet addresses work exactly as advertised. 2. the reworked Additional Program Files dialog seems somewhat quirky. When opening the dialog in a profile that already has additional program files, the first entry ist put into the column description fields of …

Re: D-Fend Reloaded (DOSBox frontend)

Two short questions: 1. Is there anything special I have to do to activate the non-modal image viewer? For me it behaves like before. The main window is blocked while an image is displayed. Trying to change the according preferences checkbox doesn't work for me either. It always stays unchecked …

Re: Motorhead

in Windows
Does the wrapper work with this fix? Yes, absolutely fine. But why bother, if it works for you without any fix? Most likely the fix doesn't do any good on WinXP at all. I'm surprised you were able to install it. It's meant for the crash bug mentioned in the first post here. If you can start the …

Re: Motorhead

in Windows
I didn't even know the game has a D3D mode, are you sure? But anyway, you can always use Glide through a wrapper. I for one use nGlide, which works great. But other wrappers might work too.

Re: Motorhead

in Windows
For everyone who is experiencing the crash described in the first post of this thread: I made a .sdb patch that applies the required Application Compatibilitiy Toolkit adjustments without the need for the ACT to be installed. - DWM is disabled - DirectDraw Emulation is forced Simply unpack the …

Re: Glide patch

Did you copy nGlides glide2x.dll from your Windows or System32 (SysWOW64 on64 bit machines) directory to your Dosbox folder? If not, you will have to do that! That should be enough to play Glide games in fullscreen. OpenGlide allows you to play fullscreen too. Take a look at its .ini file, you have …

Re: Glide patch

I don't know about Screamer Rally but Screamer 2 should run without any problems using ykhwongs latest builds. Definitely usinge nGlide, but as far as I can remember the "out of the box" wrapper (OpenGlide) works fine too. Just in case: be sure not to overwrite any other file than glide2x.dll when …

Re: D-Fend Reloaded (DOSBox frontend)

In the past I had many problems with modal/non-modal windows (for example the main window hotkeys were not correctly disabled when opening a dialog etc. which caused some strange bugs). When making the image viewer non-modal this would cause many new problems so I would really prefer not to do this …
