Re: My Wavetable Sample Thread

Someone posted recordings of a Terratec Maestro 32/96 on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_lFm1PDCR_g This card is using the exact same wavetable as the Sound Canvas (SC-55). Indeed, it sounds extremely similar (almost the same.) The small differences are due to the different synth chip.

Re: Expanded memory managers and DOS

Thanks for the replies. I think I've about got it figured out now. I think I've got about 615k free at the moment, not a bad number. I get 634k free using QEMM 97 on MS-DOS 6.22. That's with cd-rom, mscdex, smartdrv, mouse (the 24k Microsoft one), softmpu, doskey and setver all loaded. And there's …

They probably need to …

Second, before you make claims like this hand us some proof that threads got locked up because Windows …

It's probably just a bug. Microsoft's web pages not working properly doesn't exactly shock me. It's intentional and it's been like that for months. Given that some links exhibit the behaviour, and others do not, it seems more plausible that something isn't working as expected. If it was intentional …

Re: 3D accelerated DOS gaming era?

in DOS
Windows 95 took a while. It was horrible when it came out. Gaming on w95 didn't take off for years. I remember that in 1997 many games were still targeting MS-DOS only, and their w95 support consisted of a Windows setup.exe that installed... the MS-DOS version.
