I would disassemble it completely first. Next thing to do is to remove that old battery, and check if there is any damage on the board because of that. Then a good cleaning is all it needs. I usually remove all the plastic parts, and wash them using water and soap.

Great build and great presentation! I love 286s! That's indeed a PC you would buy in 1988 or so. My 286 is somewhat more modern(it has simm sockets, 16MHz cpu, VGA card and IDE disk), but I wanted it to be like my first 286 pc which was bought in 1991.

There is another way to force pc speaker sound. The game has 2 files for that (ibm_snd1.dat and ibm_snd2.dat) , and 2 files for adlib/sb sound (midisnd1.dat and midisnd2.dat).
