Re: Bad Luck and Misfortune ... part, uh, 140580834, or so.

I'd have thought a 1gig proccy wouldnt run UT too badly... We're both on the same proccy... Althlon 1Ghz. Mine's actually clocked higher than my friends 'cause I have a bigger case with more fans:) Also, he had to underclock his gf4 to stop UT from crashing. He went down from (i think) 250mhz to 200 …

Wow, did everyone's win2k system's die this week? 'Cause mine did too! It sure was cool. I was just extracting a large rar (100meg, >10,000 files) when there was a sudden powercut. Upon rebooting, bam, blue screen. After several reboots, each with different results (bsod instantly, freeze on loading …

Hmn, the only one's I ever remember using were Scitech Display Doctor, UniVBE (which came with SDD afaicr), and Sisoft Sandra, which, if memory serves, was just a general system diagnostics tool with a VESA mode-checking module.

On my gf256 VESA works:) At least, it does in the 3 non-build games i have that I know use VESA (warcraft II. moo2, ascendancy). Of course, I cant actually play any of them 'cause the mouse gets stuck in "the box", but they run without VDMS's vesa compatibility or nolfb, which is nice. Yes another …

Re: VESA and Duke Nukem 3D

in DOS
Dyinginformant, this is how I got Duke to run... 1st, create a new VDMS shortcut to any game, then change it to point to command.com or cmd.exe. Enable EMS, DPMI and VESA support, if theyre not on already. Put it a directory with all your handy DOS utils (like NOLFB, SPEEDSET and MOUSESET). E.g. my …

Im on win2k, I dont have any compatability options:) Also, I tried the windows version again anyway. Now the mouse locks on the game-creation screen. Update: Forgot about the ACT. Anyway, ran it with qfixapp in win95 mode... and it still crashed. This time it took the computer with it. I sure am …

3rd attempt at posting. (VESA screenshot attempt killed me 1st, then my sound card fell out). Anyway, it doesnt work for me :( I'ev tried it with vdms, without vdms, with nolfb, without, ive used all sorts of crazy resolution combinations, all to no effect whatsoever :(

MOO2 / Ascendancy

in DOS
When I run either of these, my mouse cursor is locked in a tiny box in the top left of the screen. Has anyone had this problem & fixed it? It's driving me nuts.

I'm also using 1.4 atomic. It's the cdrom.ini you want to change, isnt it? After nearly losing the cd a few years ago, I just copied everything from the cd, then changed the ini to read ".\". Then I promptly lost the cd again:)

Re: Beneath a steel sky

Wow, I never knew people had problem's running beneath a steel sky. It runs (and always has run) perfectly on mine. Is there a certain point in the game where it gives that error? Or does it happen as soon as you run the game?

The Curse of Monkey Island

A friend of mine just got round to sending me COMI. Unfortunately, it didn't work. So, I grabbed MS's ACT v2.6, which wouldn't install 'cause I wasn't running sp3. So I grabbed sp3, installed, rebooted, and installed the ACT. Now COMI still doesnt work. The error I get is: SHRINKER.ERR (3.20) C:\ …
