Personally I respect all eras of tech. My favorite being 90s. 80s micro computing and personal computers also interest me but the 90s hold a special place in my heart. Not only personally but emotionally.

So, I believe that because a lot of games have gone to open-world/sandbox type that it is harder to finish. Less intuitive, no GO HERE FOR NEXT LEVEL. I mainly use my retro games to re-live my childhood and test various hardware bits and bobs. Sure, I come back to my favorites, but to play them through fully? Ehhhh, not always.

I think the main reason why I have never completed Doom or Doom II is to do with how many WAD (or custom maps) exist. I guess I want to play with the custom maps instead of the vanilla ones. I will play though 32 maps made by someone else but I get bored after map six of a stock Doom/Doom II WAD.

I hate to admit it but I have never played Doom or Doom II (or any of the counterpart re-releases) to completion. The only Doom game I have finished would be Doom3. Do any of you have any deep, dark, games that you have never played til completion?

I can confirm that the game works out of the proverbial box. Though, if you change the cputype to 386_slow and bump the cycles then it should play flawlessly. I rebuilt my Windows 98 Pentium III gaming pc. Installed a 200GB hard drive. 😁 Upgraded the GPU to an Nvidia RIva TNT 2 Also, I am installing software in DOSBOX from floppies using a USB to floppy adapter.

I'm running windows 98se and I have an at I rage pro 4xxl 16mb which doesn't like glquake. It crashes. I vaugely remember something to do with rage cards not liking glquake.
