Re: Fidelity vs Enhancements: Which One Do You Prefer?

in Milliways
Have an enhancement preference myself. On the subject of enhancement, was happy to find HDNES and HiSMS today... http://forums.nesdev.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=9935 http://hisms.orgfree.com/ ...NES / SMS emus that support tile replacement. I ain't quite familiar with console emulators, but do they …

Re: Bundling DOSBox with shareware/demo versions?

I believe such should be alright, I've been doing so with various eyecandy software over the past year. You may need to watch out for odd clauses in some shareware/freeware programs though. For instance, many older things had clauses only allowing redistribution of the "original" archives (i.e. not …

Re: Post your, ghetto ways to cool hot old chips.

Mainly by taking fans out of junked hair dryers: Hrm, I'd guess that would give a good amount of airflow, but must have been noisy. I recently needed to move my server array out of my bedroom due to the summer heat. I had gotten used to the noise they put off, but definitely noticed it's absence …

Eyecandy Archive

The Eyecandy Archive Provides an archive of eyecandy software, currently focused on MS-DOS eyecandy (Acidwarp, Razzle Dazzle, etc.). DOSBox has been used to make these programs executable again on modern systems. I've always tried to track where my old eyecandy software: Kaliedoplasma , Psyche , …

Re: Ancient DOS Games Webshow

I don't think I could do an entire episode revolving around that game because of how... umm... "basic" it is. There's a bunch of games that would be fun to cover but simply have so little real content that it's hard to devote an entire episode. Still, it's one I'll keep in mind for any short …

Re: Direct3D patch (Host)

I believe multiple passes can be programmed into a single shader, but DOSBox doesn't support multipass shaders like other emulators that do which allow multiple shader files to be combined add-hoc.

Re: Windows 7 folders read-only

in DOS
Just a guess, but try not putting your DOS files mounted by DOSBox under Program Files / Program Files (x86). Files there are only writable under limited circumstances.

Re: DOS TSR program 800.COM?

in DOS
I think this may be the 800.com utility... http://cd.textfiles.com/pcmedic/utils/floppies/800ii140.zip ...from first result from a Google search on "800.com ms-dos disk"

Forcing Identical Randomized Runs

I'm wondering if it would be possible to falsify certain system timers in DOSBox (or perhaps DOS in general) to cause programs with randomized startup parameters to repeatedly start in the same way. I'm guessing most programs initialize a random seed based off a timer at startup. It seems like it …

Re: No CRT Emulation? Why!?

in PC Emulation
You may want to check out Hylian's new CRT shader... http://board.byuu.org/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=4719 ...though he's still actively working on it and I don't think it's compatible with DOSBox without some fiddling.
