Re: AGP Pro and Voodoo 5 voltages

With a quick search on the mainboard i found out on the asus website that the mainboard has an agp 4x pro slot. Thus it will handle the voodoo 5 just fine. Since agp 4x is backwards compatible with 2x and 1x. Handling 3,3V without a problem. The pro extension is for extra power need for professional …

Re: Voodoo 1, 2, and 5 questions

You're just luring him into desperation how the time, efforts and $$$ spent into acquiring the piece of dreamed hardware were just trashed, if one just wanted to play games. 😉 But this is Marvin anyway, so seeing and experiencing the real hardware triumph over playing any games. Lol, the hardware …

Re: Voodoo 1, 2, and 5 questions

I've made some time to run it with the voodoo 5 5500. Here's some pictures of the first 5 minutes ingame. Filename 20210405_123142_capture.jpg File size 311.18 KiB Views 763 views Filename 20210405_123223_capture.jpg File size 287.3 KiB Views 763 views

Re: Voodoo 1, 2, and 5 questions

The best settings are the default settings. I prefer to run it with v-sync off. You could turn on AAx2 if you play in 800x600 16bit or with lighter games on 32 bits. 4x aa destroys your performance. At your 550mhz i wouldnt run aa at all if i were you. Voodoo 5 runs best at a 1.2ghz and up. Voodoo 2 …

Re: Voodoo 1, 2, and 5 questions

I remember playing the game on my pc back in the day, it was running smooth on my intel I740 640x480x16 all max settings. So I took the liberty to plug my old card back into the pc to test it. It had an avg of 33fps on liberty island. Switching to glide on my voodoo 5 5500, i managed to keep an …

Re: Voodoo 1, 2, and 5 questions

As for my experience with having multiple 3dfx cards installed in your system, the main problem you will run in to in at least windows 98, is that unless you can manually pick a graphics card when starting a game like in 3dmark, the games automatically select the last 3dfx card installed for 3dfx or …

Re: 3dmark99 MegaThread

This are for now the 3Dmark 99 results . Videocards I have here at home which do work are benchmarked with the as far as I know the best available drivers. So this is it for the time being. Interesting to see is that the voodoo 5 5500 beats the Geforce 4 4200 at 640x480 and 800x600. I have arranged …

3Dfx Voodoo 2 crash in 3Dmark 2000

Hi all, Every time I try to test 3D Mark 2000 on 800x600 or higher. The benchmark crashes at the second game. When I put the vd2 in SLI mode it crashes at the medium settings in the 2nd game test. When I put the vd1 in single mode it crashes at the high settings in the 2nd game test. I have tried 5 …

Re: My 3Dfx Collection

Well, I have done as you have requested. The performance boost scales well with the increasing clockspeed. I put the clock at 183Mhz and started some benchmarking. I did three different runs with 3dmark 99 and each run at a different screenres. The one I remeber is the 640x480 run. I got a score of …

Re: My 3Dfx Collection

Thank you for the information. So you don't think they have used lesser samples which run stable at 166 instead of 183 like the 3500? I'll give it some thoughts, because it would be interesting just to see how it compares to stock and the rest of the cards in my benchmark project.
