Re: WIP versions

lowenz wrote: Mech 2 Win 95 edition (and GBL and Mercs) works great on my vmwar-ized WinXP SP4 (4!) with an old injector called "MWhook". And it works on 3dfx with any version dgVoodoo2? NM: Dumb question. Brain faded this morning. Answer: no, dgV2 or WIP requires DX11.

Re: WIP versions

It turns out that VMWare SVGA driver doesn't support neither compute shaders nor feature 'structured-buffers-through-pixel-shaders'. Support for both of them are optional in DX10.x, a thing I always forget about... But what were weird is that even WARP didn't support them. I think I'm going to …

Anti-aliasing possible?

I know there are scalers but they tend to blur the entire screen pretty badly. Is there any such thing for Dosbox that only applies anti-aliasing proper-like to edges? Maybe even a SMAA and sharpen shader injector like SweetFX for Dosbox? Please don't recommend the Vaseline applicator that is also …

Re: WIP versions

You need DirectX 11 for dgVoodoo to be functional because all functionality is accessed via DIrect3D 11 runtime. On Vista, this means you need Service Pack 2 and KB971512 . D3DCompiler_47.dll from dgVoodoo download page is also recommended (put it in C:\Windows\SysWOW64), even though the …

Re: WIP versions

You have DirectX 10 installed but the video driver in vmware only supports D3D9. Click the display tab. I guess I don't see where it is DX9 only? Edit: According to this page, VMware12 is DX10 functional. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VMware_Workstation https://i.imgur.com/XmrMj7V.jpg You don't …

Re: WIP versions

If you right click on my posted screenshot(s) and view image, you will see my VMware Vista64 is running DX10. I can upgrade it to DX11 but have not done so as I haven't had the need. I am certainly no programmer but I don't understand why dgVoodoo1 can work so well in VMware but dgVoodoo2 doesn't? …

DosFreak wrote: dgvoodoo 2 isn't supported on Windows XP since the highest ver of d3d supported on XP is d3d9. You need Vista or higher. Problem is, same thing results in my VMware Vista64. Is only Vista32 supported? Edit: attached screenshot

Re: WIP versions

Have you tried enabling "Inherit Color Profile in full screen" in the dgVoodoo2 config program? The problem you're having sounds a lot like the problem I had with another, albeit later game. Thanks for trying to help. I just realized what I think is the issue. The newer dgVoodoo's have an issue not …

Re: WIP versions

I'm trying to get Mechwarrior 2 3dfx only version (Windows version that came with my Orchid Righteous 3D card at the time) and all Titanium versions to run. Since its a well know fact that Win10 currently has a major issue crashing Mech2 games on level launch, I'm using VMware, trying both winXP …

Re: Running older OS on external USB hard drive with modern PC?

in Windows
you got xp onto the usb drive by booting from the xp cd and installing it to the usb drive yes ? No, Rufus2.11 worked best. USB3.0/2.0 combo ports are the only thing available on my laptop I'm trying this with. The minimalistic bios is set to USB legacy so much more than that I can't do. I'm also …

Re: dgVoodoo 2 for DirectX 11

Dege, I don't know who you are but without you and your dgVoodoo series the world would be a very sad gaming place. Massive props to you for all your efforts! I've been starting to get back into older games. One of them being my Uprising Join or Die game running within current Win10. I've tried all …

Running older OS on external USB hard drive with modern PC?

in Windows
I've been trying to get my modern Toshiba laptop(2015 with Win10) to boot to WinXP or Vista64 which are installed onto an external USB hard drive(SSD, thumb drive would work too). I can get really close but the OS crashes halfway through boot startup, about 10 seconds after the Windows graphic …
