Yes they can, but the older MPEG1 cards are supported under Win3.x.

MPEG1 decoders too, those are even more rare than the MPEG2/DVD-to-Go cards that you can get dozens on ebay at any time, I bought the Scenic Wonder on taobao, only place I could find one. There's a T64V on Yahoo at the moment, it keeps being relisted every week because no one wants it apparently... …

Copied a few essential files to my Tecra 500 using a null-modem cable, drivers and PCMCIA/Cardbus enablers mainly, and ran 3DMark2001 on my VT Book, and the results are quite low!

What are your options for booting or restoring the system in case the hdd fails? Any mentions of optional devices in the manual, like external floppy or cdrom drive?

My PCI adapter with a ENE CB1410 chipset works fine in DOS using Cardware 7 from http://www.tssc.de/, I tested the SCP-55 card and had no issues in the games I tried.

I have an ISA one with a 5.25" dual PCMCIA bay that works fine in DOS and Windows 9x (Cirrus Logic chipset) and a cheap PCI with a single slot on the back which I need to retry in DOS to be sure. A PCMCIA Compact Flash adapter will work under Win 98 without issue.

You have a 740, right? There are a bunch of exernal floppy drives on ebay, look for the model number PA2611U
