I have two of those SparQ drives, a parallel and an internal IDE. I bought the parallel a few months before SyQuest closure, it still works I think. The IDE drive has the infamous problem, it scratches disk wich then can break working drives and so on..., I don't know if I'll dare to retry it …

As long as it supports Midi 1.0, you will get some music out of it while playing, the result might be interesting though. Sometimes I'm using a Korg digital piano to output the music, it does 8 voices polyphony with only 16 intruments, so it's not GM compatible to say the least, but still, listening …

Because of lack of sound card options, I never considered vintage notebooks. With Windows 98 notebooks you have the issue of no decent graphics cards like 3DFX Voodoo and things like that. Also the old notebooks have very bad screens, lots of ghosting and aspect ratio settings are limited as well. …
