Re: Maniac Mansion (1987)

voktopus wrote: Why not use SCUMMVM ? With this emulator all LUKAS games run as you were in "old times" 😀 and with the "SCUMMVM q+e" it's real simple to start your old LUKAS games favorites ! Wow, forum spam. Don't you love it? JAL

Re: How to exclude memory 0xA000-0xC9FF ?

 My old DOS AP say I should add the following line to the config file: DEVICE=emm386.exe noems x=a000-c9ff i=e000-efff The line loads emm386 for UMA access (upper memory area) only (disabling EMS), excluding the memory range a000-c9ff, explicitely including e000-efff. I have no idea why your …

Re: Nvidia 66.93 causes DOSBox crash when alt-tabbing

in DOSBox General
FYI: Alt-tabbing DOSBox with Nvidia's newest drivers (66.93) causes DOSBox to crash (for me, anyway). My OS is WinXP SP2. I reverted back to the 61.77 drivers which corrected the problem. If you start dosbox with the -noconsole option, the output is redirected to stdout.txt. After a crash, it is …

Re: GUS memory

in DOSBox General
Is there a possibility to increase the GUS memory. I'm using Impulse Tracker and sometimes 1MB simply isn't enough :( The original GUS (and other GF1-based cards like the Max and the Advance) has support for 1Mb of memory, not more. IT on DOS with a GF1-based GUS cannot access more than 1 MB of …

0.63 bugs overview

in DOSBox General
Now that version 0.63 is out, it may be a good idea to start a bug thread for this version like we had on 0.62. Since there's no thorough "this has been fixed list", and also no "these things are on our todo list" list, I suggest bugs present in 0.63 that were also present in 0.63 can be posted …

Re: DOSBox Wish List

in DOSBox General
what do you mean by "- true EGA support"? Some BIOS functions return certain replies for EGA, and others for VGA. E.g. Rick Dangerous 2 tests these to see whether a true EGA card is present (in which case it uses standard EGA palette) or whether VGA is present (in which case it uses the ST/Amiga …

Re: Mouse problem

I'm pretty sure that mouse speed isn't a hardware thing, but a software thing, i.e. you can set the mouse speed in both directions using the int 33h API. I'm not sure if DOSbox emulates this API correctly, or that you have to load a "3rd party" driver like mouse.com. Having a parameter you propose …

DosFreak wrote: No, Support needs to be programed in. If you wish to use windows you'll have to install Windows 3.1 (not 3.11) and run it in standard mode. What if you'd use a serial mouse, and use the COM-port passthrough feature? Just a thought 😀 JAL

Re: 0.62 bugs overview

in DOSBox General
Another small bug which may have been reported before, and also exists in previous versions of DOSbox: when switching to the start menu in Windows (Ctrl-Esc) and switching back to Dosbox, it acts like the Esc-key is pressed. Seems like the loss of focus on Ctrl-Esc isn't handeled correctly. JAL

Re: amber monitor emulation

would there be any interest in this functionality (it also can do green monitors , or actually any color you like ;-) )? If so I'lll port it to the latest cvs and make a nice patch. It would be a good idea to have a "monochrome" setting in the INI-file somewhere, being able to set the monochrome …

Re: BGI Error: Graphics not initialized

in DOSBox General
I got this error. BGI Error: Graphics not initialized (use 'initgraph') Questions: 1) Which version did you use? 0.61 or 0.62? 2) Does it work when running in the WinXP dosbox (cmd.exe or command.com)? 3) What DOSbox setting do you use for graphics ("[dosbox]" / "machine=")? The BGI-error appears …

Re: integer and real values

in DOSBox General
Heheh, this is really funny :). Seems like Turbo Basic is using the copro even for integers, and the copro emulation is faulty somehow. Cannot explain the strange numbers otherwise. Does everyone have the same faulty sequence? 1-7, 16, 36, 80, 176, 384, 832, 1792, 983040, 1099511627776, ... (damn, …

Re: Changing the text font

Qbix wrote: i thought it was possible to change the character map. This is exactly the bug I listed in another thread (the one which I supplied the small testprogram for). It was possible indeed, with DOSbox 0.61 (at least in 256 character mode, 512 character mode didn't work either). JAL

Re: 0.62 bugs overview

you can attach files now at this forum. Ok, here's the testprogram. In DOSbox 0.61 it works fine (you'll see the correct Polish accents like ą, ś and ć. In DOSbox 0.62 the "original" value of the characters are displayed. I attached two screen dumps as well. Note that this program uses standard 256 …

2. User definable fonts don't work. Reported by jal ( try to confirm bug ) "work around" 2. use .61 (and tell us which programs!!) I have a small test program, but in this forum I can't attach files (why is that, it seems to be possible in the other DOSbox forums?). If you can supply an e-mail …
