Re: Invasion of the Mutant Space Bats of Doom

Well, I searched the net and found many versions of MSBoD, mostly the unregistered version. One version was registered, which allowed me to play up to level 21, and on one occasion, the boss did not appear (I went to round 22) and on one occasion it did (tried twice), but I vaguely recall that's not …

Re: Invasion of the Mutant Space Bats of Doom

I remember the game crashing or hanging in (real) DOS before or during the appearance of a boss, or the boss not appearing at all, or getting stuck at a certain unreachable location. Though you might experience a DOSbox problem (it shouldn't crash of course), the cause is probably a bug in MSBoD. …

Re: X86 port to use host cpu directly

in DOSBox General
I just wonder, if Dosbox is slow, its mainly because it has to emulate the main processor (286/386 etc). So i wonder if it would be possible to make a special version for windows/linux that uses host cpu without emulation. It would probably need to emulate the memory part (protected mode etc) …

Re: IF ERRORLEVEL=XX GOTO

I have noticed that "IF ERRORLEVEL XX GOTO" is supported but "IF ERRORLEVEL=XX GOTO" is not. The correct syntax is "if errorlevel xx goto". The fact that the second syntax works also, has to do with the fact that the original DOS (at least the later versions) filters out any '=' sign as if it …

Re: Budokan - screen artifacts

Budokan has screen artifacts when using DOSBox dynamic CPU core. Normal CPU Core is OK though, and run wonderfully. The dynamic CPU core is still in early stages of development, and should generally not be used. It is known to be rather buggy, so it's no surprise not everything runs as it should. …

Re: I can't use the keyboard

in DOSBox General
Please write the details about your configuration, system (PC, Mac), OS (Windows, OS10, Linux), processor type + speed, memory, keyboardtype (USB, PS/2) etc. Withouth such information, it's really hard to help. JAL

Re: XDA II / Pocket PC Version

in DOSBox General
The biggest problem you'd run into is the speed: 400 MHz is really not enough to emulate DOS programs at an acceptable speed. Maybe you'd just manage to emulate an original XT (4.77 MHz), but that's about it. Remember DOSBox is primarily a games emulator, and I doubt whether you'd be able to get any …

Re: i cant get this to download!!

in DOSBox General
i have been trying for months to get dosbox for windows to download i dont know what it is that i am doing wrong but it wont work can someone please help PLEASE?!?!?! It would help considerably if you were more accurate in describing the exact nature of your problems. Truely you cannot expect us to …

Re: three bugs...?

in addition, can you add a tv-scanline feature in the new dosbox? scanline is good because it looks like console & arcade, please consider, thanks for your effort! scanline is BAD because DOSBox is DOS/PC emulator, not console/arcade emulator! Even on CGA not really scanline is visible. of course, …

Re: Odd video problems in Nahlakh

For some reason the VGA emulation doesn't work properly for the old Nahlakh RPG. I posted details on this at http://dosbox.sourceforge.net/comp_list.php?showID=1888 . Does anybody have an idea why text stays on the screen after it's supposed to be cleared or why the colours get all messed up? Maybe …

bugfix for "dir .." problem

A while ago I found a bug: when using the "dir .." command, the current dir was shown. Since then I got hold of a copy of VC.NET, and I found the bug. In the "ExpandDot" inline function (defined in shell.h), when args[0] equals '.' and args[1] equals either '.' or '\\', buffer isn't filled, and a …

Re: Compiling using Visual Studio .NET 2003

vc6 is not vc.net vc6 is obsolete. I know it isn't :). And no, it's no obsolete. If I where to ask about VC4, now *that* would be obsolete ;). it doesn't support those templates dosbox uses (which are part of the standard i think) I think they are, I cannot see anything wrong with them, even when …

Re: sound help for war diary

i have a soundmax integrated digital audio and war diary says i need sound blaster. what do i do to fix this?! It's possible the game expects the Soundblaster at a specific address/port and using a specific IRQ or DMA. See if the game's manual says anything about that. You can adjust the DOSbox …
