I found a bit of time and played around with it, it's such a wonderful card and software. I realize that also the default 4MB sound font is very high in terms of sample quality. and also well balanced. Love my Tropez+ and my RIO. Cheers, Fab

I38-MMSN852 is similar to MMSN847 so YES, this cards synth is accessible under DOS via the MPU-401 Interface. So after initialization you can use the synth for "General Midi" music. This is first hand information, I own this card 😀

Just want to add that the Phoenix BIOS based ECS UM8810PAIO series of 486 PCI mobos work perfectly with CF cards (kingston, wd and sandisk tested). I doubt that Phoenix BIOSes treat fixed disks different from other BIOS makers. Regards Fabian

It is about the 2D core, the ET6100, and not the 3D NEC chip.. Of course the card isn't broken. It performs normal and has no quality issues, I just slow in DOS.
