It'd be cool to see the brand come back but as it's NVIDIA owned and everything is standardised now it'd just be another generic card. It'd be nice if their enthusiast cards took on the branding though.

I don't regret it as it was ridiculously slow anyway but I chucked out a Super Socket 7 mobo and a AMD K6-2 350 (or 400, I can't remember).

Not old old hardware but I've picked up a 4850 to replace the 4670 in that machine to give it a little extra grunt. It has a measly power supply in it though so I did what any sane person would do and wired up an Xbox 360 power supply to the graphics card 🤣

Managed to kill one of those Packard Bell Pentium II/III motherboards that has an integrated 8MB Voodoo 3 2000. Whoops. It still works but there is corruption all over the display. 😜 Oh and I clearly remember my brother throwing out an AdLib because the audio socket got a jack jammed in it.

If you spend extra on a high end panel and calibration equipment you can get LCDs that will surpass CRTs for colour rendition.

The ones I'm talking about are small cards that just take a floppy power cable and plug into a current IDE port. They translate SATA commands to IDE.

That's the downside yes. I don't know how well they support older machines but I have used them in the past.

What about SATA to IDE cards you can get? They just plug into your IDE port and have a controller chip that translates SATA commands to IDE.

Sorry to continue this, but while it isn't Blu-Ray quality, I can still get 1080p streaming content through Netflix with 5.1 sound. Some services offer up to 20mbps streaming too.
