Sorry Ben, I don't think VDMSound or any other kind of 3rd party driver/utility can "magically" ad EMS to Microsoft' NTVDM.EXE. Have you tried disabling non-essential, on-board devices in your BIOS? Disabling the Ethernet controller on my nForce2 board gave me EMS back in WinXP. Btw. Battle Isle 2 …

Thanks THE_WUQKED, I have not started playing WC3 for real (playing a different game at the moment), so I think I will wait the patching, etc, until I am ready to tinker with WC3. Who knows, perhaps DOSBox and the dynamic core will be good enough by then?

Can you create a temporary folder (e.g. on the desktop), and drag the troublesome EXE's to that folder? If so, then you delete them after a reboot (I hope).

It happens from time to time for me too - but not just with VDMSound, and not just .EXE's. My solutions was simply to create a "To Be Deleted Later" folder the desktop, and drag'n'drop the locked item into the TBDL folder. Then at a later time - after a reboot - you can delete the (now unlocked) …
