Oh I misread then. They made it sound like the card would somehow fit into earlier AGP slots and function appropriately. That would be pretty wild if that was the case. So what they're really saying is the chipset can support 66mhz.

I've never tried using CF Cards, but I have had great results in P1 and later PCs by using a promise UltraATA controller with a SATA to IDE adapter and using a 64GB SSD.

I know it won't be dead on -5.0v. I just figure if it was reading somewhere around 4.5 to 5.5 I should be OK. I don't even know if the GUS card I'm using even uses -5V. To check the pin on the ATX connector i just red probe that point and then probe black to ground?

I got one and it is much faster but it was a pain in the ass to get everything to not clash on these boards. I had problems for a good while with any DMA locking up the machine from the sound cards in DOS. The only goofyness currently is that it says -5v is -6v as a warning in the BIOS on startup. …

I just got an Asus P3B-F after reading all of this. Biggest gripe is only one ISA slot, but i see it has solder points for a second one. Maybe I can try sacrificing a dead 486 boards ISA slot and swapping out the last PCI slot and hope and pray 😖

I thought about merging such a thing into my projects or even calling them at startup, but it could be dangerous on incompatible chipsets or buggy ones so I think it's best left up to the user to handle these affairs.

It's not exactly the same, there is a complete difference between using fastvid and mtrrlfbe.exe. If you can use fastvid, you can use mtrrlfbe and its recommended over fastvid.

I can't isolate specifically what it is because the issues happens in the first version of mesa 6 and there was a big code change in that version. It also only happens on a real computer, at least on my v3 and v5 setups. I haven't tested it on the voodoo 2 yet.
