In my experience Cutemouse is a nice "cute" little program, but if you want best compatibility use Microsoft Mouse driver Version 8.20. It really works with everything. Jut try to load it in UMB if possible, because yes, it is a memory hog, a compatible memory hog. Oh... my two sents. Z aka. Zed …

Usually yes, red is always +5 and blue/black are gnd. And if you have green and yellow, those are clock and data. But some "made in china" power cables have even Ground Neutral and Line power colors messed up, so I do not trust nothing.

There were many standards and half standards, better to locate ground and +5 first from motherboard and check that first, because wrong placement of +5 or wrong polarity may fry your mouse, or motherboard.

Most compatible is Microsoft Mouse driver Version 8.20. Older ones are not compatible with Windows 3.1x and newer. And that 9.01 version does not bring anything new to the table, only more memory hog.

Strange quesion. but i usally use Norton Disk Doctor it has better testing capabilities than Microsoft Scandisk. And they all can use any drive? And just on advice, if you find bad sectors, then FORMAT B: /U and then try again after full format. Sometimes it fixes the problem.

Wow nice, a 286 with IDE and floppy! you need an original bios for that motherboard, you can not just swap out random bioses and expect them to work. even if they beep a little bit. You have 1MB of memory, it is all good. Usually it is called bank 0.

Yes you can. Different system.ini (in1 in2 in3 etc...) files. Just copy over the aproriate system.ini file. And different win.com switches. Then make a batch files. Thats about it.

Standard windows MIDI driver and multitude of games use the OPL2/3 totally different way. You have to rewrite the midi mapper and even this is not enough to make an ideal representation.

Pentium MMX is best with a TNT2 (M64) (Still can use Windows 3.1 drivers). And even Geforce 2 MX is good enough.
