I have 2 goteks, one with 100 and one with 1000 slots, both are compatible with each other, and they work just fine. But i also have a reserve of ca.40 floppy drives, 10 of them are black. Bitter end of the DOS era. Everyting old was old and cheap, not "retro" and expensive. But hard drives were bigger. CD-Burners were affordable. I usually use a Pentium 2/3, and use CPUCACHE Disabled for older games. It works perfectly. I really do not need moslow or some other elaborate TSR slow down program. And yes, many games have problems with sound detecting and playback in fast computers.
Dudes it is time to make a MOTHERBOARD, i know it wil cost dearly, but i will buy it!

We need old school motherboards with full functional ISA sockets! Best thing is, if someone would make 486 or Socket 7 new mint PCI ISA boards 😉 Or ATX Super7 or Slot1 MSs 😉

I use mATX cases for my AT ISA 486 boards, because no more than 4 cards are required for full system, and VLB cardas are in the end always, i just make my own new ATX sytle metal sheet fo AT keyboard hole and some other stuff. And i do not use any skrew holes, just those old scohool plastic …

Try to replace DOS4GW with DOS32A, that usually helps, only games that do not like that are Tomb Raider(total crash) and Zed(random lockups). Doom and Warcraft 2 totally benefit from that, they even load faster. Especially Doom. Because i do not like any source port Dooms (MBF) , only the original. …

Windows NT 3.51 is very powerful, i have tinkering with it a lot, if you tweak it enough, it is basically NT 4 with the good old 3.1 interface. And you can have even some Windows 2000 capabilities. Yep, most non original CGA cards do not emulate that unofficial RED Cyan White Black. And many modern sVGA-s only have black, cyan, magenta, white anyway, so... not even those dark and swampy black, red, yellow, green games do not look normal.

Yes. Virge dx has a patch. That enables to play dos virge games. S3drun. But the card has to be a primary card.

UmbPCI can be used with those DMA idiotic chipsets quite easily. SmartDRV can not be loaded high, the floppy access can be remedied with LOWDMA.SYS and usually thing that use DMA are sound, and those are loaded later in the normal memory area. Of course VIA Apollo PRO is better, but you can use it …

You can even change that partition to a normal FAT16 partition, extract those files, and use them in that included mini Windows 3.1 or full blown windows. Then you do not have to restart, to change your Deskpro Bios settings.

You need qemm only if you have pre Pentium machine. UMBPCI and HIRAM combination gets better results, and does not put your pc to virtual086 mode.

Isa EGA rarely had any composite out SIGNAL, they only had composite ports, that were routed to expansion port.
