I love the matrox mystique, it's a excellent card. the build quality is fine so is the vga output. Lot's of drivers for different OS (Win3x/9x/OS2/NT..) It's much much faster than my RageIIc onboard on my Scovery-212 system and it has some acceleration in amithlon (picasso96 screenmodes, nice!) …

bilinear filtering on very early 3d cards is no a must have for me...the alpha? blending is the bigger weakness... mystique is a very fast early 3D accelrator, but not so much games offered support in form of degrading missing features of the card. Instead of the mystique and the g200, the g100 gives me headaches on amithlon too...no native acceleration and vesa also broken...even mystique is just fine here.

Really helpfull is a TFT that can change the blacklevel, like Nec 193mi. That helped me a lot when fixing too bright levels on macs and fuzzeling lines on Atari-ST.

Win9x and Pixel-Vertexshader GPU DX8.1 and UP is not my cup of coffee. To me a good Win9x machine does have dx7 GPU, that's what is perfect.

I was not able to get sound with the ES1371 on my FSC-Scovery212 with alladin V chipset with K6/2-350...BUT the guys patched SBEMU for it.

ah sorry, I meant the WInOS/2 driver for the ES1371...I own ES1371 and 1373 cards. after the excellent fixing for SBEMU there is only WinOS/2 left...otherwise everything works.

The biggest wow! effect to me was not 256colors but 16colors in VGA with a custom palette. Some BitmapBrothers Titles like gods use that, looks fantastic and is FAST! on 286/8 !!
