Re: Video games are too heavily monetized these days

zyzzle wrote on 2023-01-06, 05:59: The money's all that matters now with games, the heart, soul and the spirt are long gone. I'm having the time of my life at the moment with a game released in 2021, and it's free. And no it's not freemium. I think some of you guys just like making dramatic …

I'm about 10 hours in to 'The Chronicles of Myrtana: Archolos' and I'm head over heels in love with it - best game I've played in years. The story is engaging, the quests are interesting, and the world is so detailed and believable that I can't believe this is a free community effort. It's a little …

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Another day, another Oblivion gate down. I'm impressed with the variety you get with these (or at least the ones that pop up around each town). I detest those bloody gates but yes I think it's because of the random ones that start appearing at a certain point - they …

I just wasn't getting into Oblivion like I have in the past. RPGs are a thing of the spirit I find and I'm still thinking about the Gothics, so I decided to give 'The Chronicles Of Myrtana: Archolos' a more serious try. This is a free total conversion mod for Gothic II, available on both GOG and …

Strife is great, loved graphics and audio and setting and story. But yeah I didn't love the later levels, which turn into a maze-like grind. There was a point that I was convinced I'd finished the game but it just kept going, so I gave up in the end. I'll go back and re-play the first 3/4 one day …

The random quests you pick up from NPCs, etc. can indeed be pretty dull , but there are some exceptions; at this point, I just ignore any sidequest that would have me travel to a nearby cave and collect X or kill Y. The main quest and guild quests, however, are a step up from Skyrim IMO. Yes that's …

Gothic 3 is best experienced on its own, with a healthy distance from the first two games. It does have some nice elements like the exceptional music, but compared to the previous entries in the series, it's pretty underwhelming. Even with the latest community patch applied and all, Gothic 3 simply …

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion I've been playing a bit of Oblivion too lately, trying to fill the void after months of working my way through Gothic 1 and 2. I tried Gothic 3, which I used to love, but playing it so soon after G1 and G2 really highlights its flaws. Oblivion is another game that I …

Re: Recommend a VPN?

I use Hotspot Shield, which is included in my Dashlane subscription. It's quick to load and seems fine - the reviews were good. Up until recently though I was using Nord too - agree that the app was too slow and the constant updates it interrupted me with were annoying.

Gah another one of these threads? There's endless content out there from around the world, so OP if you can't find something you like then look harder. I.e. look beyond the blockbuster Marvell trash.

A Labway OPLSAx YMF719, with the filter mod and new caps + X2GS with custom mixer settings to sound more like a real SC55. - Great sounding SB Pro 2 (thanks to the filter mod) - OPL3 - WSS - The best sounding GM I've heard - No nasty pops on startup / shutdown Filename P1060492.JPG File size 459 …

Re: Cheap but well performing PCI 3D video cards

I use Unirefresh and it works with both a PCI Fx5200 and AGP 7900GS. This is in pure dos not win9x dos box. Later nvidia cards might work but I have not tried anything newer than a 7900GS. The great thing is you can set really high refresh rates with these newer cards, 150hz+ with the crt being the …
