Re: Standing desks - anyone tried one?

in Milliways
Thanks for the link, interesting read. I'm actually not too bad at keeping myself moving at my desk - shoulder rolls, etc. I stretch most nights to some degree and like I say I get a decent amount of exercise; I ride a pushbike to work so it's pretty low impact. But I still wake up stiff and get …

Standing desks - anyone tried one?

in Milliways
I sit on my arse in front of a computer all day at work and then a couple of hours at home most nights too, and all this sitting is catching up with me. I'm only 35 and get a decent amount of exercise, so if I'm getting back pain now, what it's going to be like when I'm 70?? I have no intention of …

Hardware you wish you'd never bought.

in Milliways
We have a thread here about hardware that people want, but what about the stuff you've bought over the years that you've regretted? At age 15 or so I bought a little black box called "visi 3d" or some such thing which was supposed to magically transform 2.0 speakers into surround sound. It was quite …

In summary it's claiming that Intel plan to give socketed chips the chop going forward and only offer a soldered on option. That would obviously be bad news for motherboard manufacturers and for us at the …

Which Amiga is the best Amiga?

in Milliways
I've never been into the Amiga - I don't think I've ever even had the opportunity to use one. And the last thing I need is another old computer in my shed. But there are a lot of Amiga games for sale on eBay locally and it does get me to wondering what it's all about. I know some people love them. …

Re: What speaker setup are you using on your vintage machine?

in Milliways
Since starting this thread I've ditched the 2.1 idea for my retro stuff and bought myself some nice little Edifier M2's. I was running a bit short on space anyway with the sub and massive transformer, so when I saw the very stylish little M2's on sale locally I decided it was time to simplify. They …

Re: Is computing as much fun as it used to be?

Depending on what you purchased your PC gaming experience could be perfect to having problems without any end. This added to the magic of it for me; battling with config files, error prone floppy disks, and just plain guessing most of the time made actually getting a game to run a rewarding and …
