If the thing has been sitting unplugged for months nothing's gonna keep any residual charge, but yeah unless you're really into electronics, it's not worth the hassle.

If the screen is cracked then it's done for. But if you're into electronics the main circuit board is chocked full of awesome goodies, keep it! 😉

Nice! The scanner I've been using seems to have a very short focal length or something, things come out blurry if the board's got tall components.

Desoldering braid is great, but make sure you get the good stuff. The bad stuff looks like stranded copper wire and it barely works. Good braid is 'spongy' (loosely packed) and it contains flux, works just like DountKing said. 😀

I did this so many years ago I actually forgot (and didn't keep notes), but according to what I've found online, the pinout on the monitor side should be 1 GND 2 VCC 3 RX 4 TX Not sure which way to interpret it (my P992 is buried in storage right now) but pin 1 (GND) should be easy to identify with …

I do when the keyboard feels stiffer after the wash as you say. I use the same type of white grease that I have for CD/DVD player mechanisms.
