Had a Multimedia S606 back in the day. Same case, but mine was 233Mhz with 32MB RAM and some form of PCI ATI Rage card. Dunno about other Packard Bell models, but I never had any issues with that rig.

Last time I ran this machine, the Xeons were running around 45-50C. If you don't have good airflow running over them, you'll have problems. The 1Ghz Xeon probably runs even cooler.

Pretty sure 3DMark01 is single-threaded. But you might notice a little boost if you have dual CPUs as you can assign background processes and other crap to run on the second CPU.

I have an Asus XG-DLS of similar vintage and I had no issue detecting a Maxtor Atlas 143GB drive. Only issue was the bearings were shot and I could hear the drive running from across the house.
