Re: Ancient DOS Games Webshow

Hey, a complement is a complement, regardless of if it sounds like it has 571 hidden meanings. ;D That, or he's just glad I don't say "aboot" or "eh?" every ten seconds. (Which is a stereotype anyways and something you very rarely hear in urban areas. I don't actually know anyone personally who …

You could try AMISETUP (search for amis2990.zip) to access hidden AMI BIOS settings. Don't know if this still works for a machine from 1999 but it doesn't hurt to try. My newbie-ness might be at hand here but I tried that and I can't seem to do anything because the program says that my BIOS is not …

Re: What game are you playing now?

Well now I am switching gears from my last post and been getting back into Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines. I sadly missed this title back in 2004 since I didn't have a good gaming PC to play it at the time. Thanks to having a decent PC now and Goodwill for having this for a few dollars complete …

Re: Final Fantasy 7 on Steam!!!

This re-release on Steam is pretty crazy, mostly because there are so many complaints about the music in the Steam re-release not being the PS1 music. I haven't played the Steam re-release but if the complaints are right and the music is recordings of the MIDI music from the original PC port, I hope …

or it's a stripped setup like OEM computers usually do. Probably is though I can't be too sure. All I know is that for a Windows computer from 1999, it wasn't very good for Windows 9x gaming that required 3D acceleration. For DOS, at least when I played with DOS in Windows 98 it was a solid machine …

strange, the 386/486 boards I have here have this option... it actually fixed jazz on a 386DX40 and 486DX2 build I made... Knowing my luck it is probably hidden somewhere that is obvious yet I didn't notice, probably also doesn't help that most of the hardware for this computer I am using was …

Bizarre Issue With Tyrian and Jazz Jackrabbit On My DOS Machine

in DOS
Hello Vogons Community, recently I decided to convert an old eMachines computer to be a DOS machine so I can experience pure DOS for the first time in my life. (A bit of a DOS noob here, was never fully introduced to it when I started learning about computing) So far things are running fine however, …

Re: Tomb Raider Menu Delay Issue

Haven't used GliDOS in a while so forgive me if I am wrong, but in the DOSBox configuration file set the joystick value to false. If you want to use a gamepad with Tomb Raider you will have to use a joy to key program like Xpadder for it.

Re: Game Music Bundle - Classic PC games!

I listened to the samples of the Duke Nukem 3D soundtrack and being a Roland SC-55 owner myself, I cringed. It's not so much the sounds are bad, but they forgot to edit the MIDI files to remove the FM and GUS instrument tracks on some of the songs which are not supposed to be played when you are …

Re: What game are you playing now?

These are the games I have been playing recently: Silent Hill 2 (The almighty PC port, got it as a present for myself since it was my birthday recently) Darius Gaiden G Darius Raiden Fighters (Got the Raiden Legacy pack on GOG.com recently) Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain Quake and its mission packs ( …

Re: Heretic/HeXen 3?

I would love to see new entries in both of those series myself. It would be pretty cool to have a new Hexen game that is more of an RPG than the other two were. A new Heretic would be awesome as well if it still is a fantasy action game like the previous two were.

Re: Ancient DOS Games Webshow

Yeah, DX:IW was a decent game. If it wasn't labeled as a Deus Ex game, it would have been well-received (except for the console-ized UI on the PC version). It just didn't live up to the high standard set by the original. At the worst in a numeric score I would give it a 4 out of 5. I subtract a …

Re: Ancient DOS Games Webshow

I loved SS2 as well, and also don't find Bioshock to be much of a successor nor very engaging. System Shock 2 was much more of a Metroidvania FPS, while Bioshock feels more like a conventional highly-scripted corridor shooter. Honestly SS1 feels more interesting to me; I really need to play all the …
