The return for this investment is promising, after all people have been using it for over 20 years now and almost every household just desperately waits for an USB upgrade... And? Dosbox relies on existing and working sound drivers of the host. The host being Dos and no sound drivers for Dos means no sound in Dosbox. Dosbox can't produce sound out of thin air 😉

This confirms that you should seperate usb enclosure and hdd, to find out whether the hdd or the case are broken

Then it's clear. The settings of the app expect the mapbin.exe file to be in c:/mapmaker but the way you mounted it ends up in the root of c: Mount c /home/yifang C: Cd mapmaker Program/batchfile name Should do it

Via usb not much can be done. You can try disassembling the usb case and hook up the hd via ata or sata to the pc and use some tool as test drive to fix the partition table. You will lose warranty of the usb drive though and no guarantee it will help.

Also updating graphics card drivers helps too. @Vile, you keep on recommending direct3d, that's only an option with Special Dosbox builds, not with lock stock Dosbox
