Is this a CD-Rom game? I have had much more joy with CD-Rom games when I made iso(bin7cue files off them and mount them via imgmount.

the start menu? Seriously since all those are so different I really don't know what you are aiming at and the Start Menu is probably as good for starting those games as frontend would be. Just throw all these into a start menu group called Games...

I would see using a video card up to and including Geforce 2 GTS/Ultra How is the VESA compatibility with newer cards? I think I read somewhere that it is no longer that great compared to old graphic cards...

Seems like Addicted has hit the problem right on. Also we shouldn't help anyway, since, well... I ll post the readme file from the game instructions from the crackers.... I'm sure the source for this game is nice enough to you and will tell you how to play it.

And do generate a new dosbox.conf. Rename the old one, start Dosbox and type "config -wc dosbox.conf" and hit enter. Close Dosbox and use this new dosbox.conf for settings.

yeah, I think there is even a 16MB one, but I never got around to use it since at those days I really didn't bother with Dos anymore (and my favourite game U7 really doesn't like EMS 😀)

I do think it was possible to load soundfonts in dos but it may be just possible for the Live! series and then through some non standard file format (ecw I think). But yeah, with the Live! you need EMS to use it anyway :( Edit: and sorry for being a smartass, I know it's about the AWE and ot the …

Is there any point in adding extra memory to the AWE32? I assume the extra memory was used by sound programs and for loading homemade sound fonts and such, not by games. AFAIK that's exactly it. No use then really.

Ultima Underworld also makes use of extra sfx. Personally I have a CM-64 (and a MT-32), same features and runs great. The great thing about the MT-32 is the display which the runner ups didn't have 😀

I *think* Ultima 7 played kind of ok on my Pentium 100 back then (or maybe it was 90) since this was the first machine I played U7 on. Btw. only affects Ultima 7 Part I, Part II Serpent Isle did have speed control. My Pentium MMX 200 was "good for almost everything" (like leileilol wrote).

The MT-32 is worth picking up since it will go much further than any card, since you can use it with almost any computer (since there are midi usb adapters). I'd even recommend a CM-32 instead (a bit more advanced sfx or so).

You have to edit dosbox.conf directly and you need to use a special build of Dosbox that has this patch integrated. Lock, stock Dosbox does not have this.

and please state what was written in the reb.bat. Also be aware that the two versions might write different settings to the same files and this might also cause problems for you.

Hmm, I did have a similar computer ones, a different Asus board but 1GHZ, 512MB RAM, Voodoo5 and a Live!. I'm not sure if all these soundcards are worth the hassle, especially since you plan on using Windows 9x it seems to me that you are asking for trouble. I'd rather stick a Roland card in there …

hmm, is the game able to write to your C:\ drive? If you are running as a normal user not as admin you are normally not allowed to write to C:\ The game tries to write it's settings to \Rebel of the mounted dir. If this directory exists plese copy paste the contents of reb.bat. Edit for it not …
