I just bought a Sound Blaster Live! Platinum (CT4760) and when I install it I can't get the system to boot at all. After not getting any old hardware for a long time (since I've been busy putting together a modern rig) I have this on my way, for my older XP rig: Hopefully I'll use it to run my DOS machine with MUNT!

Yeah, but since I intend to put together an XP system for games from around 2000-2006, next to my DOS/Win98 machine; it would be a nice "dual setup". I've seen that used Live! Platinums are quite cheap, so I'll probably end up getting one of those.

The CPU is indeed fast for DOS games, but I think it's related to the drivers that come with the CD versions, I have had the same issues with Indy 4 and DOTT - only General Midi and no voice. The floppy version of Indy4 works fine though (it plays the adlib/sb soundtrack correctly), with no speed …

As DonutKing said, the GUS emulation of the MT-32 is not the same as the real thing, but it still sounds good, you should give it a try. The program is called MegaEm, it comes with the installation disks. The downside is that it doesn't work well with games that reprogram the MT-32; you will get …

how much are MT-32s going for these days? Well I'm in the UK, this one was £32 from eBay. If you're going to the US why not get a CM-32L, they seem to be a lot easier to find over there. Very nice, how much are MT-32s going for these days? I've seen a few on ebay but they seem to be way overpriced. Are they commonly found in used musical instrument shops? I'll be on holidays in the US next week, it would be nice to get me one while I'm there.
