Re: Ancient DOS Games Webshow

I also noticed that, while in DOSBox Soundblaster is better than GUS, with real hardware the opposite is true - my GUS ACE is miles better than my Soundblaster Pro 2 with both sound effects and music (the GUS is crisp and clear, while the SB Pro 2 is dull and raspy). This doesn't surprise me …

Joe Siegler on Stargunner Music: http://joe.siegler.net/2015/09/stargunner-music/ Okay..... Those tracker tunes...... They're....... Ummmm........ Uuuuhhhh......... Well......... How can I say this.......... Very...........original...........I guess :-| :-S :# The entry itself is very interesting …

Re: Ancient DOS Games Webshow

If anyone tries to get Stargunner working in pure DOS, could you report your results here? When I run the .EXE, it falls back to the DOS prompt with "Divide Overflow". Also, the DOS character size becomes gigantic until I reboot. This is on a Pentium 133. I tried with and without SETMUL (disabling …

The house is empty save for me and my dad, everyone else has bolted to who knows where; my brother and sisters are currently out of state. 2015 has been an utterly forgettable year for me …

Re: How can I FAT32 format my hard disk?

Personally I use Partition Magic. It's not freeware, but does the job without much complaints. Granted, a Linux Live distro will also do (and it's free 😎 ). I also agree with collector, this topic makes more sense in Marvin or Milliways.

Re: RIP - Ian Murdock

This is really, really sad. The Debian Community has lost its founding member 🙁 If what was posted in his Twitter account is true, then Ian Murdock was in real need of help - someone to listen to his personal troubles and offer a positive way out. May his soul rest in peace now.

Re: Kind of missing the point of building machines.

Great! I'm the odd man out again  I build retro PCs for two reasons: old games and software. Yes, I do tinker with my small hardware collection from time to time, but it's mostly to test something out and see if that makes a significant difference; if it does the hardware stays, if not back …
