That 128MB sticks are pretty expensive if you need 4 just to try it out. I have a ASUS P/I-XP6NP5 which according to manual only supports up to 4x64MB EDO, but who know what will happen with 4x128MB Not sure if the ASUS can use 3.3v ram at all. And having good memory is crucial. I have a PPRO200 which runs great on a Fortron FSP 235W from that time, so probably every PSU should be ok, if dual setup is ignored anyways.

NEVER leave any 486 system in the trash, its all worth it to grab it along. Even early pentiums. Keep looking for other 486's that are tossed out, and p1's for the vga and ram or the complete system. 😉 some early p1 systems also have async sram dip style installed.

I have updated to 2.3. But as always when i try the CTRL+ALT+DEL it hangs, and no reboot, only a lockup. Until i press the reset all is good again. What could have caused this problem, none bios settings will help me out, failsafe with everything turned out and low makes no change. The cache runs …

I would get a V5 5500 PCI just to have it, but not for Pentium PRO MMX 300 it that even excists.? Is it a overdrive cpu? or a old PPRO or a PMMX at 300?

You can still do dial up, if you need to 😉 In the NL there is no use anymore, only if it were a isa card for your older 486 for gaming to friends by telephone line.

I have a sis471 and instead of 256kb single bank cache i took it out an put 256 double banked in. first i tried no cache in the sockets and i got 25,4mb s on main ram, with cache in now only 22mb's with tighter timings than used before. Now speedsys is very strange? Why is this? btw PCP is faster …
