FRACTINT graphics corruption

While I was browsing the PC/XT/AT MESS topic on Emuversal found this nice fractal software called FRACTINT . The guys over there were comparing the tool emulated inside MESS and DOSBox so I thought I might try it as well. It should be on page 98 and 99 in the topic with some DOSBox talk. Topic: …

Re: Paradox 4.0 error

Why do you want to run this database software from Borland in DOSBox? Are we now supporting non-gaming software? Guess not because I still see this wonderful topic posted by wd with that nice example: http://www.vogons.org/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=27920 I wouldn't use DOSBox for that even if it runs. …

Re: LaunchBox: New DOSBox Frontend and Game Launcher

I'm against to combine the icons with the Microsoft ones. That would be inconsistent in terms of design. But it's your decision I guess. I can use a resource editor myself to fix that. If I were you I would stay away from the Microsoft design as much as possible. That dropdown menus still remind me …

Re: LaunchBox: New DOSBox Frontend and Game Launcher

Well that gray background color for the box arts still bothers me. Are there any plans to replace it with something wooden like the game shelf on gog.com, Darkadia, or even the Boxer shelf? Maybe a 256x256 pixel icon just like DOSBox has? None of the frontends have that. I know it's not a big of a …

Re: LaunchBox: New DOSBox Frontend and Game Launcher

Are there still people out there who don't know that you can get non watermarked scans from MobyGames? It's just a little bit of url hacking. Just open up the desired cover image in a new tab and change the word "large" to "original". It may not work for all images, but there's a solution for that …

Re: Looking for "gusgm16b.zip"...

in Milliways
The site leileilol provided asks for registration. There should be ways of getting this file without making an account. According to this topic gusgm16b.zip contains Gravis_Ultrasound_Classic_PachSet_v1.6.sf2 so that should be easily obtainable. VOGONS topic: http://www.vogons.org/viewtopic.php?p= …

Re: Battle Chess CD No Sound

Ripped my copy of Battle Chess Enhanced CD-ROM to a BIN/CUE just to double check if it works correctly in DOSBox and it works like a charm. The game has one data track and 21 audio tracks . So you must make a BIN/CUE or CCD/IMG/SUB/CUE with CloneCD. That will works as well just fine. Never make an …

Re: Death by Dark Shadows

in DOS
Got a reply from William Fisher, and seems like he doesn't have the game anymore. So the only thing we have is the 5 level beta which says it's the full version. Probably we will never see the complete version and that's pretty sad. Glad you enjoyed the game... I actually sold that game to a …

Re: CD or DVD for backup (or botth)

in Milliways
Optical media is still not dead! And I think it will never be. At least not yet! CDs and DVDs can fail over time if you don't keep them in a climate controlled room and if you expose it to moisture. Hard drives can fail just as easily and flash drives too. However there are alternatives like the M- …

Re: Ancient DOS Games Webshow

I remember that racing game. It's called Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing . The game is made by the devil. Full of bugs and glitches, stupid AI, broken physics and more. There are several mods out there which try to make the game much more enjoyable. There's one on Newgrounds by Kogey , and several …

Re: The Manhole CD

I found the same bug report on Sourceforge but for ScummVM. Is this your ticket? Seems like the version you have came from Magnavox CD-ROM bundle. However I think the disk contains one data track and 95 audio tracks, by looking at the CUE file provided on Sourceforge. So this should be the same …

Re: Tempest 2000 voices

Do you mean the voice when you navigate the menu? If that's what you are talking about most likely you run the game with the stock auto detected settings. However the game has CD Audio tracks for the music, and if you mean about those voices I don't think you can do anything about those. You can run …

Re: SDRMAP 6.5

FYI, there are much, much easier ways to get around InstallShield problems. http://www.reactos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=10988 Installing these old applications on a 64bit machine can be a pain in the butt. I tried that one last night and I couldn't install it so then I tried Universal Extractor . …
