If SoftMPU works with a Yamaha YMF-719 chip now, is there any possibility that it would work with a 724 or 744? The key difference in these chips is that they use the PCI bus. Very good news; a green light to experiment further in the future... Have you tried running 3DMark2001 SE? When I tried a 7600 GS, on a stock install of Win 98SE and stock drivers, I was getting severe artifacts, though the game I tried worked fine.

ISA video cards also slow things down. However they don't slow down the CPU and can still cause issues with some games, so use these results with caution. It could be an alternative signal path for TOSLink instead of SPDIF - Creative just left the option there and went with the SPDIF bracket...?

Great work bjt! I'll try to finish the rest of the tests with v.1.3 over the weekend. BTW, Mau1wurf1977, I was getting scores around 13-14 using 3Dbench with an overclocked Tualatin Celeron (L1 off). EDIT: L1 on, didn't register anything.
