I'm a bit fuzzy but I think there's a command-line mixer in an earlier version of the Ultrasound drivers.

You can send the seller a "Request for total cost" via eBay and ask for combined shipping in the comments. They can then update the total before you pay. I don't have much to add other than to say I've got a GUS Classic running without issues alongside a SB16. Ultrasound settings are 260,7,7,7,7.

Found another EA game that needs intelligent mode (and works with SoftMPU) - Budokan. Both Populous and Budokan are from 1989 - if anyone has other EA games from this period it would be great to test them with SoftMPU. Keep an eye out for buffer overflow as Populous has this problem.

SLI would be overkill for a P1, I don't think it can even max out a single Voodoo 2. I'd steer clear of FreeDOS if this is a games machine, as inevitably there will be compatibility issues. If the USB mouse works then great, otherwise a PS/2 mouse is ideal. A lot of people use mTCP for DOS …

Dopefish: Go with a genuine SB if the on-board sound can be disabled. Reduce RAM to 64MB or even 32MB as more will cause problems with some games. What are you planning to use USB for? I believe it's the norm for new ATX power supplies not to supply -5V. As long as you don't have expansion cards that need -5V (e.g. LAPC-I) it won't cause a problem.

Depends which games you want to play, but out of those the CT2230 + DB50XG and either the GUS or SB with CMS seems a good bet.

Great news, thanks. Have updated the compatibility list. BTW if I remember correctly MM3's digital sound was a bit crackly for me during the intro when the bad guy talks, this was fixed in SoftMPU 1.4. This will be especially good for people without ISA slots 😀
