I had problems with my MM-401 (1.15) on a board without ACPI support. Actually sold it a while back as it's not as compatible as SoftMPU.

Pics please 😀 LS120/Superdisk was kind of cool, I had one ages ago. Judging by eBay they're not that cheap/easy to get hold of now. The 120MB disks were a bit unreliable but they did real 1.44MB disks incredibly fast.

The S23 & S32 boards look sparse because the same PCB can be used to make a Crystal-based S23 or a Creative-based S32. That S23A on the other hand looks like it's Crystal-only.

Can't remember the specifics TBH but Mech 2 3dfx definitely requires an older Glide DLL to be copied in when running under the latest reference drivers.

Yep I wouldn't mind a SCSI Plextor but I don't have a free slot for a host adaptor. There are network/SCSI combo cards out there but who knows what their DOS/Win9x compatibility is like.

Eye of the Beholder 2 is an example of a game with an awesome FM soundtrack and no MIDI support. While the AWE cards don't have real FM, they do have reverb/chorus so I think of it as a different sound rather than worse per se 😀

Same thing with my GUS Classic with 1MB. Inclined to blame FT2 here, perhaps it has issues with the extra memory.

That NEC drive looks good, I'll have to keep an eye out for one. I do have a CDU-33A but it's a pile of crap too and won't read CD-Rs.

Pro 2 doesn't have a daughterboard connector... AWE32/64 actually isn't bad considering how cheap and easy to get hold of they are. It might save you a lot of money if you're happy with it.

If you just want your games to work with the MT-32, you don't need a dedicated MPU-401 interface card. Most games work with the Sound Blaster and a gameport to midi cable. The rest can be made to work with a program called SoftMPU (see other thread for download Iink).
