Re: Doom on Commodore Vic-20?

This is cool, but I prefer MooD for the C64 as it could more feasibly be tweaked into a full-featured game. I could be wrong, but in terms of engines I think real 3D gets you more bang for your buck on old PCs than raycasters.

Last week: "Removing DRM and online are impossible! These features are vital to the operation of the XBox One!" So am I to believe the XB1 is now less capable than it was? What happened to those awesome cloud features that REQUIRED an internet connection? Are they taking that back?

Re: Do I really need an XP rig?

My point exactly. Win8-32 should even have some support for WIN16 programs. And maybe this is just because I haven't been touched by the glory of EAX, but I don't find it enough of a reason to choose XP over anything (especially if the games still work without it).

Re: Do I really need an XP rig?

Assuming all these things about incompatibility are true... I still don't see the point of having an XP machine if you already have Win7 and Win98SE machines. I can't imagine any programs that are too old for one and too new for the other.

Yes, the 2000/XP niche is slowly disappearing. I have a netbook that runs Win7 x32 and I run all my older programs that won't run in 64-bit. Anything else that's "just plain too old" runs fine on my P2 Thinkpad. I think my P4 and dual-core machines will be next on the auction block. It'll be …
