I tried a lot of things...the first times I created the CF in Oracle,the XT hung on C>>C. After doing fdisk /mbr in Oracle again, the XT said missing operating system. I just cloned a working 256mb card on the 256mb one I want to use but it keeps saying missing OS???? Maybe I am preparing it wrong? …

The cards are 8,32 (both Canon branded) and 256mb. Going to try Win32diskimager this week,otherwise flashing the newest BIOS is the next step.

They come from a Bulgarian seller on Evilbay. It 'works' with the 2 premade cards but when I want to 'make' one, it goes wrong.

Powered it on again this morning,first time reported as 80486sx-25,from then on unknown cpu...This really puzzles me. I changed the settings even to 33mhz to no avail.

Lol my cheap multimeter broke and haven't replaced it yet. I'll try to find the machine with the other SB16 in. I wonder if the battery leakage might caused some damage...

I took only one of the jumpers. I also have two pnp models but haven't found the courage to try install them,drivers etc... I believe I have another pc with the same card but which is it... 😒

Reseated the connectors and hooked up a spare PSU with the same result: no sound through the speaker jack but through line-out jack.
