Re: Best Glide games?

I'm close... I have the vooodoo rush patch and when I ran it, it gave the error Fatal error: unable to load DLL. I searched around these forums some more and found I needed to download GLIDE2X.DLL and glide2x.ovl. I put them in my TOMBRAID directory and now I get Assertion failed: 0, file fxpci.c, …

Best Glide games?

What are some of the best Glide games out there for DOSBox? I want to test Glide support in ykhwong's build and I can't remember which were Glide games back in the day except Tomb Raider. Are there any other demos I can download that will show off that feature? Robert

Windows 3.1 and EMS

I couldn't post on the Guide topic of Windows 3.1, so I'll post here. I am using ykhwong's November 6 build in Windows XP. Question: Why the warning about disabling EMS in DOSBox before running Windows 3.1? It works fine for me. Is there something that it will do (or not)? Robert

Connectix VirtualPC forums....RIP.

in Milliways
OK, now that Micro$haft has taken over the wonderful Virtual PC 5.2 product, we lost our Connectix forums to discuss this product. With kudos to MS, they did indeed take most of the general support questions and put them into KB/Technet/online format, but that still doesn't give us a place to talk …

Re: Most memory taxing DOS games again?

in Milliways
Just to reiterate again, I did do a search and no such topic was ever posted in the VDMSound forum. **You** moved it to the Milliways forum, where it then became a duplicate topic. In either case, my original argument stands. I wanted to know from others a good list of DOS games that were …

OK, I'm being pushed around here. Let me clarify a few things. 1) I have never heard of the Vogons forum before yesterday. I actually posted it in the VDMSound forum. I had noticed the VDMSound forum had changed, and wondered what Vlad did. I guess he offloaded his support to you guys? In either …

Most memory taxing DOS games again?

in Milliways
Nicht, Moderator or not, I don't appreciate you closing my thread so soon. Am I not allowed to ask such a question here? The only two games listed in that old thread hardly constitutes a discussion on the subject, let alone a comprehensive list. Robert

Most memory taxing DOS games?

in Milliways
What were some of the hardest games to configure for having enough conventional memory? I remember Tie Fighter and Privateer needing specific amounts of either conventional or EMS. What were some of the other problem childs? I need to "test" a DOS config. Thanks, Robert

Re: OT: DOS compatibility sound chips

I'll report back my findings here, and probably on a Usenet group somewhere so it gets recorded in the annals of Dejanews history. My SQ2500 already doesn't do FM music for Alone in the Dark 2 and 3, so I stopped my testing right there. It does SB Pro sound, but that's it. Robert

Re: OT: DOS compatibility sound chips

I think this thread got more off topic from it's off topic roots. I figured the bunch of people on this board would know about DOS games on modern hardware. It looks like I'll have to do it myself. I'm going to buy a Fortemedia SP-801 chipset board and a Yamaha YMF744 based board (like the Aopen …

OT: DOS compatibility sound chips

in Milliways
Question for you all. If I wanted to build a PC today with modern processors, motherboards, etc. What is the best integrated audio chipset or PCI sound card I could buy with the best Soundblaster compatibility? I know, nothing is good as an ISA slot SB16, but if I have to go PCI or integtrated, who …
