I HATE used home made floppies. You never know if they have mold that will gum up the read head, virus you don't need, or the fun of installing a program just to get to disk 12 of 12 and finding it faulty. There are very decent OEM machines (especially older servers and workstations) I prefer over custom builds. High end Compaq, Gateway2000, HP machines were nice, low end Packard Bells were junk.

All the way from Greece for that card. Might as well get them while you can, especially ones that are better then 1MB RAM. Most of my ISA video cards are Tseng with maybe a few CL units, not sure what I have in S3.

I killed my first Commodore 64 back in the late 1980's because I touched a TV screen while having my hand on the keyboard (static took out the RAM chips). Some plastic can be staticy, others not so much. I keep cards in a plastic drawer shelf with no issues.

From my point of view a P1 is perfect for early 3dfx games at 640x480 on a Voodoo 1 which is what I currently have in one of my machines. My V2 SLI is in a Gateway 2000 tower with a P3-500 slot 1. Granted Voodoo 2's are easier to source these days then V1's, I only have one spare V1 myself.

I would think a Voodoo 1 would be better for a Pentium 1 build. You need P2/P3 setup to feed SLI Voodoo 2.

Could just be a tantalum cap giving up the ghost. I would take the board off and look on the other side from something that got hot. I smoked a Plextor SCSI CDROM drive over a decade ago because the molex power plug actually went in the wrong way, pissed me off.
