I would not recommend WD-40 in this application. It is a very light mineral oil - standard lubricating oil will work much better and, more importantly, much longer. Have you checked the SIMM slots for any corrosion on the contacts? Cleaning them with contact cleaner can't hurt, and it might help. A real long shot would be a very weak PSU; seems doubtful to me, but if you have another power supply that you can try that would be one more thing you could cross off …

My advice would be to scroll back and begin by building a diagnostic foundation. Judging by those photos I don't see any capacitors that are obviously failing. Capacitors can pass visual inspection and still be bad, but when it comes to bulging caps here's an example of when you know you need to replace them by appearance alone:

You'll want to test your memory bandwidth with the motherboard's cache enabled and disabled once you have the K6-2+. With my TXP4 and a K6-2+ modified into a K6-3+ the memory bandwidth is significantly better with the motherboard's cache disabled. Edit: Speedsys also shows that the system has better …
